International Efforts on Environment and Climate Change

As the Métis Nation continues to grow and ensuring that Métis voices are included in domestic environmental policy, it is important that the MNC Environment Team shares insights and areas of concern on an international stage as well.

The MNC will continue to have representatives, including youth and Elders, at:

  • The  United Nation Framework on Climate Change: Conference of the Parties;
  • The United Nations  Convention on Biodiversity; and
  • The Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (RAMSAR)

In addition to representing the MNC at international forums, the MNC Environment Team is working to establish partnerships with NGO’s, Indigenous communities across the globe and environmental organizations that transcend borders. As the global climate continues to change, it is crucial that the MNC continues to act locally while thinking globally.
