MNC-Métis Government Relations

The Métis National Council is mandated by the Métis Governments of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario— who represent Métis rights-holders— to carry out this work at the national- level with the Government of Canada.

Under the direction of its Métis Governments, the Métis National Council is the national and international voice of the Métis Nation and represents the Métis Nation in intergovernmental and international forums to advance issues of collective importance to the Métis Nation, its governments, and its citizens.

Implementing the collective rights of the Métis Nation as described in Articles 4, 5, 18, and 19 of the UNDRIP requires Canada and the Métis Nation to renew their relationship on a nation-to-nation, government-to-government basis through a distinctions-based approach.
