What We Do
Recognition Payments
To honour and acknowledge their bravery and sacrifice, the MVLP will provide for qualified Second World War Veterans to receive compensation in the form of Recognition payments for their pre and post-war experiences.
To qualify the applicant must be a:
Métis WWII Veteran (Served in the Canadian Armed Forces (or any Allied Force of Canada) during World War II in the period between September 1, 1939, and April 1, 1947)
Or
Spouse of a Métis WWII Veteran (Served in the Canadian Armed Forces (or any Allied Force of Canada) during World War II in the period between September 1, 1939, and April 1, 1947)
Or
Common-Law Partner of a Métis WWII Veteran (Served in the Canadian Armed Forces (or any Allied Force of Canada) during World War II in the period between September 1, 1939, and April 1, 1947)
Documentation
The MNC verifies the Veterans’ service through the review and acceptance of official Government of Canada documentation provided by the applicant (e.g., record of service, discharge papers etc.)
Other appropriate documentation may be submitted to demonstrate authenticity; this can include but is not limited to:
- Marriage Certificate
- Death Certificate
- Power of Attorney
