What We Do
We Won’t Be Ignored – MNC’s new Documentary Series Produced by Indigenous Geographic
After months of filming across the Métis Homeland, the Métis National Council is proud to premiere the pilot episode of its health docuseries, “We Won’t Be Ignored.” Titled Li Kawnsayr Métis Cancer Journeys, this first episode highlights stories of Métis resilience and personal experiences with cancer care.
This strengths-based initiative was developed in response to the significant lack of research on Métis health in Canada. Grounded in Métis ways of knowing, the series centres on the power of healing through culture, kinship, and community, while illuminating the systemic health inequities that impact Métis citizens.
At its heart are the Métis citizens who shared their stories, generously offering their wisdom, experiences, and voices to this project. Their personal narratives and perspectives bring authenticity and depth to this series, rooted in the traditional Métis practice of storytelling and visiting. Through their contributions, the docuseries not only amplifies Métis voices across the Homeland but also celebrates the culture and lived and living experiences of the Métis Nation. It is a testament to the resilience and vibrancy of our communities and a profound expression of Métis knowledge-sharing in action.
