Advancing gender equity and supporting 2SLGBTQQIA+ inclusion are central to the Métis National Council’s work across the Métis Homeland. We are committed to building a Nation where Métis 2SLGBTQQIA+ and gender diverse people are safe, respected, and empowered in all areas of life. 

The Métis National Council’s efforts focus on eliminating systemic barriers and promoting inclusive policies that ensure equal participation in political, social, cultural, and economic spheres. Through national advocacy and community-driven leadership, the MNC is embedding gender equity into every level of Métis governance. 

Métis 2SLGBTQQIA+ relatives have always played vital roles in our communities. Though colonization attempted to erase these contributions, we are reclaiming and restoring them as essential to our collective strength and self-determination. 

By working with leaders, partners, and institutions, the Métis National Council is shaping policies that reflect the lived realities of Métis women and gender-diverse people, championing equity, representation, and cultural resurgence for future generations.
