What We Do
Culture, Heritage & Language Team
Through training, research and advocacy, the Culture, Heritage and Languages team advances Métis cultural safety, visibility, Michif revitalization, gender equity, and lateral kindness.
Recognizing that Culture, Heritage, Language & Gender Equity are interwoven throughout the work undertaken by every department at the Métis National Council, the team provides a central service to all MNC staff, by providing cultural support and guidance. The Culture, Heritage and Language team works continuously across sectors to develop new strategies and models which are needed by the Métis communities to increase access to culture, heritage and language services, in addition to advocacy and research to advance gender equity.
It is important that the Métis National Council’s work in these areas advance the Métis Nation-specific approach to addressing Missing and Murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.
