MNC President Clément Chartier joined a roundtable on Aboriginal engagement and participation in major resource development projects hosted by the Public Policy Forum, Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada, and Natural Resources Canada in Ottawa on May 22,2012. President Chartier set out the opportunities and challenges to effective engagement of the Métis in the development of major resources sector projects and encouraged the federal government to resolve outstanding Métis land claims in order to accelerate economic development. Speakers included the deputy ministers from the three federal departments as well as corporate leaders including the President of Rio Tinto Alcan. The insights and ideas discussed at this event will feed into a series of regional roundtables being planned for the summer.
